Dan LindA 14 year member of the Minnesota State University Moorhead football staff as defensive coordinator and secondary coach; Dan Lind begins a new chapter in his coaching career as the newly appointed head football coach and athletic director of Mesabi Range Community and Technical College. He also served as an assistant professor in the Health & Physical Education department. In addition, he was elected as the department assistant chairperson for five years. Appointed MSU Moorhead defensive coordinator in 1991 coach Lind made an instant impact to the Dragons. First defensive crew led the NSIC in pass defense (124.4 yds. per game), scoring defense (14.2 per game) and total defense (202.2 yds. per game). He helped lead the Dragons to the NSIC Championship and advanced to the postseason reaching the semifinals before bowing out to the eventual national champions. The 1994 squad again reached national prominence in the NCAA defensive statistics with a final ranking of #13 in total defense (262.6 yds. per game) and scoring defense (15.5 pts. per game) in the final NCAA Division II national poll. The Dragons won a share of the NSIC crown and advanced to the postseason playoffs. Under the guidance of two time national coach of the year Earle Solomonson he spent two years coaching the secondary as a graduate assistant coach at Montana State University which competed at the NCAA IAA level in the Big Sky Conference. At Richfield High School, the 1987 squad was 11-0 and ranked #1 in Class AAAAA making it all the way to the finals of the State Championship. His goals at Mesabi Range College are simple. We must continue the established winning tradition of athletics at Mesabi Range and motivate each and every student athlete to become the best STUDENT athletes possible. An additional goal is for all athletic teams to play hard, with enthusiasm and within the rules of the game. Coach Lind’s hobbies include hunting and fishing. He is also a 17 year member of the American Football Coaches Association in addition to being an active and proud 26 year member of the Eveleth Clown Band candy clowns. |
