Tips & Tricks to Success
(Top 10 List)

# 10. Sleep with your textbook under your pillow for better osmosis learning OR better yet read your assignments before coming to class.

# 9. Doodle on your notebook during class it keeps your mind active OR better yet take notes on the key topics your instructor covers. They might just show up on a test!

# 8. When taking a multiple choice test always make cute pictures with the scantron OR better yet if you don't know the correct answer start eliminating the answers you know are incorrect.

# 7. Always pick the easiests classes so you can get the best grades OR better yet pick classes based on challenging yourself to learn new ideas. You might just find something you love out there in the world of work!

# 6. Never learn what a syllabus is or how to work through one OR better yet use your syllabus as your game plan for getting through the semester without procrastination.

# 5. Avoid your instructors as they may have cuddies OR better yet visit your instructors regularly during their office hours and learn about them. You might even ask a few questions about your class to clarify your understanding.

# 4. Always study the night before the test OR better yet take time daily to review your notes and highlighted sections from your reading. This helps get the information from your short-term memory to the long-term memory. I doubt many of you would do poorly on a test that asked you your name (that information is in you long-term memory!)

# 3. Never ask questions because it sounds like you don't know what you are talking about OR better yet ASK QUESTIONS it sounds like you want to be there and learn. This shows instructors that you are reading the material and paying attention in class!

# 2. Late assignments are just fine as long as you tell your instructor you tried OR late assignments are not okay. Your job is being a student and turning in your work is the same as telling your boss, "sorry I didn't have time to finish that project." It doesn't work in the world of work, and it doesn't work in college either.

#1. Missing classes is really no big deal OR MISSING CLASSES IS A BIG DEAL! What you learn in class cannot be replaced by a textbook, notes, or friends. Getting better grades is connected to being in class. It's that simple! As a side note: Instructors also know when you are not there and it leaves an impression on them (not a good one).
